At early Geezer & Hellfire shows we did this instead of slam dancing. If memory serves, A young Vinnie Silvestro was the instigator of this practice. Being a skinny kid, I was usually at the bottom of the majority of the dogpiles. I thought to name the project DOGPILE was appropriate due to our history with Kevin and the fact that were gonna do it again but this time we're gonna pile on his songs.
Back in the summer of 2011 I had a great idea to try and get a few of my old friends to do a cover of one of Kevin's songs. After getting permission from the Trailboss, I started making calls & writing letters. Before I knew it, the response was overwhelming!
Some folk are still playing music either full or part time & some haven't picked up a guitar in years! Some bands will be reforming to record a song and some bands are brand new projects. Some will be recording together in one room and some will be recording via the interweb. Some of the best known names slated to be on the project are Phoenix, AZ legend, Hans Olson, L.A.'s The Hangmen & Tucson legend, Al Perry!
Something that I am very stoked about is the next generation who will also be contributing to the project. These sons & daughters, neices & nephews have also been inspired by the Trailboss by way of the stories and casettes that the people who grew up with Kevin, have passed down.
